Mighty Crossfit prides itself on tending to the needs and goals of each athlete. Our classes host no more than 10 athletes and the intimate class sizes allow for individual attention from the coach. The attentive and knowledgeable coaching staff are trained to customize or scale each workout to meet the skills, experience, needs and goals of each athlete.
One of the best decisions I have made is joining Mighty. Coming from a pure runner’s background, my journal as an athlete in the realm of Crossfit has been a long and hard one. Thankfully, this gym has great coaches that take the time to not only go over movement standards but go over tips on how to improve on your weakness.
What really impressed me about this box is the fact that safety is prioritized over performance/strength/bro-ing. The coaches encourage that technique and mobility be first established before moving heavy weight so that injuries can be avoided. When I first started my Crossfit journey, I was not able to put the 35# barbell overhead or do 5 reps of back squat at 135# . With the guidance of the three coaches (Ace, Sarah, & Thom) I have grown a lot stronger!
Finally, the thing that makes Crossfit-ing such a great experience is the people you do the WODs with. Everyone is super friendly and extremely supportive.
In conclusion, I will have to say that not only did I find an amazing box, but I also found a family!
Mighty is like a second family. The coaches Ace, Sara and Tom always encourage you to not give up and they are always there to help you with all the movements. Since I moved to San Diego I decided to continue doing Crossfit and I am so glad that I found them. I’m going there for already 7 months and there is nothing better than see how far I’ve reach. The other members are so helpful and friendly. I extremely recommend Mighty! They are amazing!
Mighty Crossfit is one place I truly feel at home. I switched from another Crossfit gym and have never looked back. Ace Canada is the owner and genuinely cares about all his members well being. He takes the time to talk to any member whether it’s about Crossfit or personal issues. Coach Sarah is also truly an amazing athlete and coach. Her background in gymnastics and endurance makes for a FANTASTIC coach. Not to mention she is a nice, sweet and caring person in general. Her coaching style works amazing for all athletes and her advice is always top notch. Thanks to her my gymnastic skills have improved significantly!!! I truly hope who ever is reading this review give Mighty a try. It’s the best decision you can make!
Might is becoming a second family. I’m new to crossfit and was extremely hesitant to join because I had no crossfit experience and I wasn’t in the best shape of my life. I finally decided to give mighty a try at the recommendation of a friend. I did a free one on one with Ace, the owner and lead coach. I told him my goals, my limitations, and my expectations. I’ve been going to the gym for a few months now and I am amazed at how far I’ve come. The other gym members are so helpful and very supportive. If you’re thinking about crossfit or want to try something new to get fit or stay fit or if you’re looking for a new crossfit gym, Mighty is the place to go!
I am new to Crossfit and was a little apprehensive at first. I thought at 50 it would be too difficult and I was sure to hurt myself. Boy was I wrong! Mighty Crossfit has been life changing. I feel amazing in all aspects of my life and I’m so pleased with the results. Ace is an incredible coach who pays close attention to everyone in the class. Even in a class setting, he provides solid one on one instruction and immediately notices if your form is off and always encourages your to push yourself. He remembers what you can and can’t do and tailors to individual strengths and weaknesses. For me, it’s been so beneficial as I’m learning a completely different mode of workout. Furthermore, everyone in the class encourages each other – very motivational. Sarah is also a great coach and her knowledge, strength and gymnastic abilities are so impressive.
Bottom line, whether you’re a Crossfit guru or total novice, go talk to Ace and check out Mighty Crossfit – I highly recommend it for anyone and everyone!
Great gym, great community, and great coaches that really care about how you want to grow as an athlete. Whether it is becoming “functionally” fit or just getting buff for the streets of San Diego the coaches cater to your needs. I couldn’t imagine being part of another gym. I especially enjoy the bro ‘sesh’s with Coach Ace and Coach Thom. Great friends and athletes. Join now.
Coach Ace is always there to tell the you-of-today that you can better the you-of-yesterday and will give you a strategy to do so. He celebrates our PR’s sometimes more than we do. And his energy, sense of community and shared success is contagious. With each little victory, it is hard to not feel like a super hero when Coach Ace and the rest of the gym are rooting you on.
Mighty Crossfit has made me stronger and faster than I ever thought I could be, and Coach Tom’s classes are a big reason why. He brings together lots of variety and volume in his classes, like Olympic lifting and gymnastics, and even a competition class. He’s super technical, which I like, because it allows me to lift safer and bigger, but best of all, he’s become a friend and voice of encouragement.
